CHANA DAL
INGREDIENTS
Chana dal : 1 cup
Salt : 1/2 tsp (as per taste)
Sugar : 1/2 tsp
Turmeric powder : 1/4 tsp
Cumin seeds : 1/4 tsp
Green chilly : 4-6 pieces
Red dry chilly : 3-4 pieces
Bay leaf : 2-3 pieces
Ghee : 1/2 tsp
PREPARATION
• Wash chana dal properly with water
• Soak chana dal in water for 4-5 hours
• Pour the dal in pressure cooker
• Add 3-4 cups of water, salt, turmeric powder and green chilly
• Wait for 3-4 whistle and then open the cover of the pressure cooker
• Heat ghee in a kadai
• Add cumin seeds, bay leaf and red dry chilly and wait for few seconds till it sizzle
• Pour chana dal from pressure cooker into kadal
• Stir it for 5-10 minutes
• Serve it hot with roti/plain rice/fried rice

ReplyDeleteGood recipe, This sort of recipe we make as a side dish with Puttu, Kerala item -minus bay leaf. Instead we add little coconut.
